Easy Ways to Return Your Order
To a JCPenney store or jcp.com|Catalog desk – FREE return shipping and handling: Bring your order to one of our 1500 JCPenney stores or jcp.com|catalog desks. This is the quickest and easiest way to return merchandise and receive an immediate refund or credit.
By Mail: Complete the “Returns or Exchange” form on the invoice and return it with the item. If you do not have your invoice, please enclose your name, address and credit card account number (if it was a credit purchase) plus the approximate date of purchase with the item and mail it to the JCPenney Customer Service address nearest you. Customers are responsible for the return postage.

To return special delivery or trucked items, call customer service at 1-800-709-5777 to arrange for a pick up. If the item is damaged, and the driver is still there, ask for an Inspection Report and have the item taken back.
Our Return Policy
With a Receipt: An original receipt dated within 90 days of the purchase is required for return/exchange of JCPenney merchandise for a full refund of the purchase price on the original method of payment. Debit card transactions will be refunded as cash. Other rules may apply, see below.
With a Gift Receipt: Any returned merchandise accompanied by a gift receipt within 90 days will be refunded at the gift receipt price and issued in the form of a JCPenney Gift Card.
Without a Receipt or Receipted and over 90 days: The price refunded will be the lowest on sale price within the last 30 days. A refund will be issued only in the form of a JCPenney Merchandise Return Voucher or a credit to the customers’ JCPenney Charge Card.
JCPenney reserves the right to limit returns or exchanges regardless of receipt. There are exceptions to the policy, with regards to Furniture, Fine Jewelry, Special Occasion Dresses, Small Electrics, Electronics, Gift Registry, Monogrammed, Personalized and Altered Merchandise, Made-to-Measure Window Coverings, Optical, Perishable Food Items, Sephora and Salon. Selected Merchandise categories are subject to additional criteria.
Valid Photo Identification is required for all non-receipted returns/exchanges and receipted returns/exchanges over 90 days. Information from the ID will be used to authorize returns and retained in a secured company-wide database. JCPenney accepts the following ID’s for Returns: U.S., Canadian and Mexican Driver’s License, U.S. State ID’s, Canadian Province ID’s, U.S. Military ID’s, U.S. Laser Visa, Passports, Matricula Consular Card and Mexican Voter Registration Card.

Exceptions to our Return Policy
JCPenney is proud to offer quality Furniture with great value. When purchasing or ordering Furniture from the Stores, the customer must take measurements, match colors and test the Furniture for comfort and style prior to the purchase. Furniture purchases from JCPenney Stores, once delivered and accepted are FINAL. When purchasing through jcp.com or one of our catalogs, furniture purchases may be returned within 7 days from the delivery with the original sales receipt.
Furniture purchased from JCPenney may be subject to a manufacturer or Store warranty, which covers repair or replacement of defective products and is only valid for a limited time, as outlined under the items warranty. Damage resulting from improper handling of the merchandise after it is received voids all warranties and/or JCPenney return policies.
Fine Jewelry must be returned within 60 days of the purchase with the original sales receipt. Special Orders cannot be returned after delivery to the customer. Re-sized rings are eligible for return.
Special Occasion Dresses
Special Occasion Dresses must be returned in their original condition with the return tag in place.
Small Electrics and Electronics
Small Electrics and Electronics must be returned within 60 days of the purchase with the original sales receipt. The item must be returned in its original packaging and with all accompanying manuals and accessories. Manufacturer’s warranties may apply.
Gift Registry purchases must be returned within 90 days of the event with verification of the Registry or gift receipt.
Monogrammed, Personalized and Altered Merchandise
Monogrammed, Personalized and Altered Merchandise cannot be returned unless the item is damaged or defective.
Made-to-Measure Window Coverings
The JCPenney Made-to-Measure special order merchandise is being manufactured according to the measurements and specifications the customer provided. The order may be changed or cancelled within 72 hours from the time of purchase. A fee equal to 25% of the retail price of the item will be applied to all order cancellations regardless of when the cancellation occurred, whether it is within or after the 72-hour grace period.
Made-to-Measure Window Coverings cannot be returned unless there is a manufacturing defect. Manufacturing defects must be reported within 90 days of the merchandise ship date.
Any manufacturing defect arising after 90 days must be resolved by the customer in accordance with the manufacturer’s warranty.
The customer is responsible for inspecting all merchandise immediately upon receipt. Damages because of shipping must be reported to JCPenney within 7 working days of receipt of the product. Final order pricing may not include additional store discounts taken at the register. There is a possibility that dye lots/stain finishes may not match on items ordered at different times.
Eyewear is custom made and manufactured to each individual’s specific measurements and prescription. Therefore, any eyewear purchase cannot be returned for a refund. The order may be changed up to the original purchase price of the order within 30 days of the original order date. The fee for the change will be 10% of the retail price of the frame, lenses or both depending on the extent of the requested change.
Perishable food items
Perishable food items cannot be returned unless the item is damaged or defective.
Returns will be accepted for items purchased from Sephora, Sephora.com, Sephora inside JCPenney and JCPenney.com with or without a receipt. There is no refund of shipping charges from JCPenney.com or Sephora.com. All refunds of Sephora inside JCPenney, JCPenney.com, Sephora and Sephora.com purchases with a receipt will be refunded to the original form of payment for the merchandise value only. All refunds without a receipt will be issued in the form of a JCPenney Merchandise Return Voucher only.
Salon Merchandise must be returned within 90 days of purchase with the original sales receipt. Appliances must be returned in their original packaging, with all accompanying manuals and accessories. Manufacturer warranties may apply.
